SEPARATION BETWEEN PANAMA AND COLOMBIA

Because the Colombian Congress ignored requests for commercial franchises for the isthmus, which frustrated Panamanian aspirations, a separatist movement emerged to turn Panama into a Hanseatic country under the protection of the United Kingdom and the United States.

This brought many disadvantages to Colombia, some as a delay in its evolution, loss of the economy and, among other things, due to the fact that too many boats entered Panama.

  • After 17 attempts at separation, Panama managed to separate itself from Colombia. When it was part of Colombia, the centrality of power prevented the region from advancing. I was totally relegated.
  • The construction of the Panama Canal, being a historical milestone for international trade and the development of the economy.
  • The economic income is directed to the coffers of the national budget of Panama, allowing you to decide on how to invest in the interests of your nation.
If that of the separation had not happened, we do not know how Colombia could be, if better or worse than now? But what we can say is that for Panama it was important and evolutionary to get rid of Colombia.
